Wesley Green the Brown (sometimes Emo) Dog

But we just call him Wes.

In case you haven't already determined, I got a pup! He's awesome. Still fairly timid, but he's getting better each day. I brought him home on Friday. At first he was SUPER emo, when I put the harness on him he just laid on the ground and didn't move for 10 minutes until I took it off. Since then he's been adjusting nicely. We still have a lot of work with the house training, but that was to be expected. He's only 5 months old. His birthday was October 27th, 2010. My birthday is today. As such I'm not working. Just hanging about with the dog and later this evening I'm going to meet up with some peoples for games and drinks. Hopefully Wes is a little more comfortable with me leaving this time around. We'll have to wait and see.

The ever elusive "Hawaiian Zebra"

This creature was spotted in Seattle at the end of October. If you see it in your neighborhood please call the authorities immediately. It should be considered drunk and highly dangerous.

Don't mess with Orcas

It's Orca Awareness Month and as such here's a little treat for you. Thanks P for the link.

Literature: A brand of kitty litter for the mature feline

Oh how I love giraffes. They are quite possibly the most perfect animal on the planet. Woodland Park Zoo posted this picture earlier that I think is just grand...

What'd y'all think of that storm last night? If you hadn't already heard/experienced, we had a rare late spring storm roll through Seattle yesterday. High winds, lots of rain, you know, a storm. I was unfortunate enough to get stuck in the down pour on my way home from work. It wasn't all so bad though. It was still pretty warm at that point and the wind wasn't kickin' too much yet. Here's a pic I snagged at the bus stop. I really wish that I'd taken video because that set of clouds was moving so fast it was in and out in about 8 minutes...

A word to the wise, don't go robbing people outside of a ninja school. It's a horrible idea. To be honest I can't think of many ideas that are worse than that. Well maybe trying to rob the school itself...

They've unveiled the new mascots for the 2012 Olympics. They're named Wenlock and Mandeville and were created by the final drops of steel from the Olympic Stadium. I actually really like the story added to it. What I really want to know is how I get a job as one of them for the games. That'd be awesome...

I'm trying to figure out the next installment of "Tusk Talk" if you got some ideas hit me up...

Lying in the reeds

This is a great video for "All I Need". They took video from the movie "Microcosmos" which works perfectly with this track. On a side note I can't wait for Life to debut. Loved everything about Planet Earth and hopefully Life will be just as good. I don't think that Oprah was the right choice, but I guess it's better than Mike Rowe.

Tusk Talk

I wish that I had a pair of tusks. Huge ones. I'd make people bask in their majesty and power. I'd walk around town barking and threatening to crush people with them, deep down knowing I'd never follow through. I'd go to bars and show them off to all the ladies, have them polished and waxed so they always looked their best. It'd be amazing.

Only down side is that I'd probably have a problem with poachers. People would always be trying to kill me on the bus so that they could take my precious tusks. I wouldn't let em though. I'd gore them to death and I'd be right to do so.

I wonder if I can find a modern day Dr. Moreau to make this happen for me.

Bumble bumble bumble bee

So I might trail off from blogging next week. I'm going to be assisting in the training of our new employee and I don't think that I want to blog with someone looking over my shoulder. But you never know. I might have to blog the whole experience. Actually Twitter is probably better for that. So even if I'm not putting up new posts keep an eye on my Twitter feed. It could be good...

Woodland Park Zoo is planning on closing the Nocturnal House. It's really a sad day. My favorite animal, the Ocelot, lives there, along with all kinds of other great animals like vampire bats, armadillos and sloths. Sunday there is an event scheduled to show support for the exhibit. You can find info here. Also join the FB group so that the Zoo realizes how many people don't want this exhibit to go... *The Ocelot does not live there. I was mistaken. When I got to the zoo it turns out that the Ocelot might be moving into the rain forest exhibit and is current in the house next to the Komodo Dragons, those things are awesome. However the bushbabies do live in the nocturnal house and are pretty awesome. It'll be sad to see it go...

Jim Mora is out as the Seahawks head coach. I don't really understand why they'd fire him before even hiring a new GM. I kinda hope whoever the new GM is just goes out and rehires him. He was given the same group as Holmgren had in his last season and came up with a 5-11 record compared to Mikes 4-12. To me it sounds like a bad team, not a bad coach. What the hawks really need to do is put together a decent offensive line and figure out what the long term situation with Matt Hasselbeck is. I'm still crossing my fingers that we're going to see Jake Locker in a hawks uniform in a couple years...

This plant continues to bring me unprecedented happiness...

Degeneration

They shot the cop killer this morning. Hopefully this gives some sense of closure for the families affected by this tragedy and they can start to piece together what's left of their lives. I totally agree with PMRob in that anyone found to have been aiding the man in eluding the police should now be charged with four counts of murder and go on trial immediately. We need to send a message to any criminals out there that this is not going to be tolerated and there are EXTREME consequences. If we don't these acts of domestic terrorism will continue to plague our society...

Loneliness is contagious....

My aralia tree is thriving. It brings me great joy. Hopefully it will continue it's expansion and soon grow to be 5 feet tall. That would bring me even greater joy...

Work is busy. One of the few remaining sales people is out, so it's a bit crazy. The real irritating part is one particular customer who thinks he's funny. He'll call up and complain about how I'm never at my desk, when in actuality I haven't gone anywhere I've just been on the phone with other customers. It's the exact bullshit I complained to my boss about when they decided to not hire a new sales person when I was told "It'll be alright." It's far from alright if it's irritated me enough to bitch about it here. At the same time I'm just saying to hell with it all and blogging as I'm on the phone with him while he thinks I'm "researching" something...

Here's a little something else I was "researching":

And here's a little something that I wrote a bit earlier for the 2x4ster:

"Facebook just recommended that I write on your wall to make your Facebook experience better. So I figure "what the hell". Have you heard about the monkey's that lived in the clouds? They had 10 fingers and 10 toes just like us. But unlike us they had very long tails that stretch across the skies in a web that covered the entire planet. They lived this way for many many years until the invent of the aeroplane. It was a hundred years ago or so when they realized that they might have to leave their home in the sky because it was only a matter of time before we (humans) used our flying machines to unknowingly shred their tails to nothingness. So as the Wright brothers were performing their first flight the monkeys were building a vast underwater city in which they could live peacefully without fear of accidental death. They all flocked to this underwater eden where they still live. The problem in the end wasn't for them, but for us. Turns out that the monkey tails doubled as a form of second ozone, keeping our planet nice and cool. I talked with one of the representatives of the monkey people and they are aware of this dilemma. However their democratically elected officials have decided that we're just getting what we deserve and in the end hotter temps mean more water for them to spread out in. The conversation ended when their representative spit in my face, gave me the finger, threw some of his fresh feces at me and told me that I'm going to get whats coming to me. This didn't go over so well. I decided that as an ambassador for all mankind I should act in a manner that showcases humanity in it's truest form. So I grabbed a machete hacked off his tail and set him on fire. Then I ran to the next monkey and repeated this action. And again until all the monkeys were burning tail-less carcasses. I guess what I'm trying to say is: would you like to come over for some monkey tail soup?"

What would I do with a llama?

Well it's official now. The interior water ways of the Pacific NW will be called the "Salish Sea". I didn't figure it would really change much. However I've already heard it referred to as such in two articles. Maybe it will catch on...

I'm really starting to enjoy the Ulysses' book group. When I read that book I only take in about 35% it seems. However when we get together and start talking about it I find that I remember more than I thought. I highly recommend that anyone thinking about reading it does so in a group. The pizza's were amazing too...

I've had a nostalgic longing for nineties music lately. Maybe its because part of me wants to go back to when my life seemed simpler, however I doubt that because my life was hardly simple then. Maybe it's just that there was some decent music back then. Who knows. Anyone out there remember Sponge?...

I'm going to see the Pixies tonight. PMRob is a pimp. I see more shows with him than anyone else by far. He was also gracious enough to spot a broke ass punk like me a ticket. Good people...

Maybe I should get a Llama and dress us both up like ancient Greeks. Oh wait, it's been done...

"I hate boars"

Now I don't hate boars, but PMRob does. However for some reason he had a lot to say about them this afternoon. I've decided to share a bit of it with your for your amusement, however it has been edited to by request (I only used like 4 of the 10 rhymes)...

PMRob: board
Desomniac: board?
PMRob: bored
Desomniac: OH
PMRob: BOARD
boared
as in i was walking through the forest when i was boared...

Desomniac: GORED!!!!
PMRob: gored by a boar
Desomniac: I was so bored I boarded a boar who gored me in the bore
PMRob: no no

and similarly if a boar gored you while in the act of bore i am certain that the bore would break
PMRob: the boar who snored cannot roar because he's sore?

PMRob: a hord of gored and sore boars who snored and roared soared through fjords aboard flying goards that pored smores
FTW
Desomniac: FTW is right
PMRob: YES!

PMRob: hords of sore boar whores with smores on there sores roared as they gored goards with boards in the fjords of lahore?
wow that took a lot out of me
Desomniac: that's one hell of a tongue twister
PMRob: ok last one
PMRob: hords of sore boar whores, with smores on there sores, roared toward goards with swords in a fjord of lahore who soared upon majical boards toward rewards
Desomniac: wow

PMRob: its so beautiful (its so lovely)
Desomniac: word

Sup Blog

I want to start off today by giving a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the Internet. 40 years ago today it was "born". I can't even imagine my life without it...

I'm glad that the sounders made the playoffs, but I'm not looking forward to fighting my way home through the scene that is sure to surrounds the stadium...

Metro's website is down. I think it has been for a couple days now. It's very frustrating. Makes me want to slash things, like bus tires. But I won't because what good would that do?...

Apparently dolphins are being caught in our warehouse. Initially I was against the idea of catching dolphins. Then I thought about it. If a dolphin somehow finds itself in the warehouse here at work I think that it needs to be caught. Who knows what kind of havoc it could cause...

Zoo pics

The Zoo was awesome! I had a ton of fun. It really made me realize that I need a new camera. Mine is okay for some things, but not for taking action shots (a bunch came out too blurry). Someday...

Snow Leopard w/ Cub

Brown Bear

Ocelot (my fav)

Gorilla doing questionable things

Giraffe! I was pissed off that I missed the giraffe feeding. It closed 45 minutes before I got there. Next time I'm going to plan more carefully.

ZOO!!!

I'm stoked to go to the Zoo tomorrow. I haven't been in a long time. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if the last time I went to the Zoo was in San Francisco which was like 6 years go. Tomorrow is Snow Leopard Day. Snow Leopards are bad ass...

I'm also looking forward to seeing the giraffes. What strange strange animals they are...
