"But mommy I want it!"

I really want to eat Thanksgiving dinner right now. Actually I wanted it yesterday and I didn't get it. I don't think I'll get it today either. I guess that just means it will be that much better when the time comes. My sister also makes a great turkey dinner spread, this isn't hers, but next time around I'll be sure to have a picture of it.

I don't much care for yams though. You hear that sister, NO YAMS!!!! Well I'm not going to deny anyone else yams, but you can replace mine with more stuffing and green bean casserole....mmmmm casserole *drool*.

I'll do something nice for the first person to correctly identify the origin of this blog title. Hit it up in the comments.

Saigon Deli Survival Guide

There is a great little deli in Little Saigon just off 12th and Jackson called the Saigon Deli. It's a Vietnamese deli that has sandwiches, hot food, and baked goods. The best part is it's cheap! A grilled pork sandwich is only $2.50. The bad part is that it's complete chaos when they get busy. Here are a few tips that I've discovered in the last five years:

#1. BE PATIENT. You're going to get pushed around and run into by people, that's how it is. It might take a few minutes to place your order, getting frustrated that it's taking a while isn't going to make it happen sooner. As was the case I saw today. A couple of guys, who'd obviously never been there when it's busy, start screaming in the middle of the place, "There's a line here!" When in fact there is no line and there never will be. Everyone just stared blankly at them for a few fleeting moments and went back to the hustle and bustle.

#2. When you know what you want MAKE EYE CONTACT. If you're looking off into space they're never going to take your order. The ladies making the sandwiches are very busy and if you're trying to order one you need to make sure that you're ready when their head pops up to take the next order. This can be at any moment! Stay ready because it might be a while before you get another chance...

#3. DON'T HESTITATE. If you've made eye contact with one of the workers, don't try to be chivalrous and offer the person in front of you the chance to order, because both of you will end up waiting longer. And I guarantee you that no one else is going to offer you their chance to order. It's survival of the fittest, don't let others bring you down.

#4. LOOK OUT BENEATH YOU. If you're a taller person like I am you really need to watch what's under you. There might be a child or elderly person who is trying to get ahead and you don't want to crush them. I can't emphasis this enough. I've nearly trampled many a people because I didn't realize them sneak in.

#5. Finally when it comes time to pay GET THE SPRING ROLLS. It's two bucks for two of them, they're right by the register and they're great. If you're looking for something deep fried go with the egg rolls, they're two for a buck. Not as satisfying but still good. There is also a bunch of sweet things that are good too. I'm not much of a sweets person, but I have tried the cream puffs and they were pretty good.

In all seriousness if you've never been before I don't recommend making your first trip during the rush (usually 11-2 on weekdays). It'd be best to go in the morning or later in the afternoon that way you can take your time to see what all they have without being pushed about in all directions. However I do encourage all of you to check it out sometime. It's a great little place, as long as you know what you're getting into.

Politics and desires

I really wish I had a cheesesteak right now...

Sen. Dodd isn't going to run for re-election. Good thing too. He wouldn't have won...

They aren't going to televise the debate on health care. This is in really bad form. I understand that President Obama wants this to happen as quickly as possible, but it also needs to be done in a way that gives American citizens a chance to see the government in action and understand everything that is going on. This is landmark legislation and to do it in secrecy is going to sour public opinion for reform, not just of health care but other sectors (financial, climate, etc)...

It hasn't even been a full week back since the holidays and I feel like I need a vacation...

It'll be 6' tall this time next year.

I really hate Tim Eyman. Enough so that I started a facebook group a while back "Tim Eyman: Stop Wasting Our Time!". Turns out that it is the largest group about Eyman. Why am I bringing this up? Because he's going to be back at it for next year. Hopefully this time around he fails to get the signatures needed to put it on the ballot. Hopefully...

Magnesium deficiency...

As y'all know I'm reading Ulysses. I came across a strange part. He's getting some lunch and decides that he wants Burgundy and a gorgonzola sandwich. Now it's a real small thing in the story but seriously gorgonzola? I've never heard of anyone eating a blue cheese sandwich...

Low humidity...

I'd completely forgotten how great TV on the Radio is. I need to make sure that doesn't happen again...

Epsom Salt...

I'm thinking that I might need to get a holiday tree. I don't know where I'd put it or what I'd put on it, but it seems like something that I should have. Maybe I'll just get a lil seedling and let it grow for a few years in my apt...

I can't stand it anymore

I'm going to costco today. I'm going to buy so much food and then sit at home and eat it all in one long continuous sitting. Maybe I should schedule a colon cleaning now...

I'm going impatient for new Flaming Lips and Circulatory System...

I love random on my iPod. When would I ever think to follow up 2pac's "Fuck the World" with Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man"?...

I'm also going to hit up home depot. Get some wood. Make a picnic table. Hopefully it turns out well. I've never build one before. I think I can do it though...

I have the best Dad ever. He's driving me all these places tonight...

I got the next disc of Lost to watch tonight. I can't wait. Actually if they have a good price on it at costco I might just buy the first season, maybe the second one too...

I was warned this morning that today was going to be hellish, but I didn't think it was going to be this bad...

It's nothing more than frivolous lies...

I want to talk about peanuts for a moment. Thats PEANUTS not penis, for those of you who get confused. Peanuts are a good food. That's all about peanuts...

A MONKEY ESCAPED FROM THE ZOO!!! It's a scene here in Seattle. The zoo is on lockdown. People are starting to panic. There have been reports of giraffes on the highway. Greenwood is over run with penguins and polar bears fighting for 85th Street supremacy. Not five minutes ago there was a group of elephants and aardvarks terrorizing a elderly patron at the Wallingford liquor store. What kind of world do we live in when a seventy-eight year old transvestite can't buy a 1/2 gallon of schnapps without being assaulted by a group of afrotheria?...

I need to get my focus back. I'm hoping that it comes in the spring. I have a lot of projects that are in the planning stage I really want to get off the ground (bhangra, archery, etc) and some that I've been working on but trailed off at some point. Maybe I just need to put a halt on all new hobbies until I can get some of these off the list...

If anyone out there has a wood lathe, hit me up in the comments. I still need to make a unicorn horn...

The clouds are hanging around a little later today...

Work is very busy today. End of the fiscal year is just around the corner. Might not blog too much today...

I love coffee. I don't think that there is anything in my daily routine that brings me as much joy. Well cigarettes, but that goes best with coffee. And I'm still trying to get away from that whole vice. Maybe I should just find a find to combine the tobacco plant with a coffee plant. Cross breeding the best elements of each to create a beverage that will impact the world like nothing else, since Coca-Cola...

Ralph Nader is a douche bag borderline racists. Will he please just go away...

Right now it's about 1pm and the clouds are still here. I guess it's only fair. We've had beautiful weather for a couple days now. Why is that whenever we need something for filler the weather is a perfect target? Do we all really care that much about the weather or is it just something that everyone has common ground...

For lunch today I'm having a bagel sandwich with turkey and provolone. Salad. Cottage Cheese. Potato chips. hmmmm food...

I'm not really feeling this today. End transmission...
