Literature: A brand of kitty litter for the mature feline

Oh how I love giraffes. They are quite possibly the most perfect animal on the planet. Woodland Park Zoo posted this picture earlier that I think is just grand...

What'd y'all think of that storm last night? If you hadn't already heard/experienced, we had a rare late spring storm roll through Seattle yesterday. High winds, lots of rain, you know, a storm. I was unfortunate enough to get stuck in the down pour on my way home from work. It wasn't all so bad though. It was still pretty warm at that point and the wind wasn't kickin' too much yet. Here's a pic I snagged at the bus stop. I really wish that I'd taken video because that set of clouds was moving so fast it was in and out in about 8 minutes...

A word to the wise, don't go robbing people outside of a ninja school. It's a horrible idea. To be honest I can't think of many ideas that are worse than that. Well maybe trying to rob the school itself...

They've unveiled the new mascots for the 2012 Olympics. They're named Wenlock and Mandeville and were created by the final drops of steel from the Olympic Stadium. I actually really like the story added to it. What I really want to know is how I get a job as one of them for the games. That'd be awesome...

I'm trying to figure out the next installment of "Tusk Talk" if you got some ideas hit me up...

Kick it, Quit it, Kick it, Quit it

I didn't drink this weekend. Probably won't next. Might not drink till Easter, kind of a lent thing. Might not drink ever again. Who knows. Bars are strange when you're not drinking. Especially closing the Knarr sober. Spilled drinks, slurred words, open drugs deals. It was actually one of the most interesting things I've seen in a long time...

Started a bunch of seedlings yesterday. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do with them, but I figured that worse case scenario I give them away. I still want to find some elderly individual who doesn't want to keep up their yard and would let me have a garden there in exchange for maintenance services. For some reason I doubt it's going to happen...

I have a serious problem. I'm addicted to the Olympics. It happened two years ago with Beijing, now it's Vancouver. I haven't watched anything not relating the Olympics since they started and I've been average about 3.5 hours of television a day. It's too much, but I can't stop. Luckily it's only another week and then I can get back to my regular routine. Scary part is that I don't remember what my regular routine is...
****I just had bullshit called on my about this section of the post. I have watched one thing unrelated to the Olympics - LOST!!! How could I have forgotten!! Can't wait for tomorrow's episode!!!! ****

An old co-worker just brought me back "Ghost in the Shell". I completely forgot that I owned that movie. Great flick. I might have to watch that soon. After the Olympics are over of course...

Finally got my mail from the post office. I hate the post office. They had me trekkin' all over Ballard. I don't understand why they leave me a note to pick up my mail at the post office when in actuality my mail is at the post office ANNEX. Wtf?...

I can't get enough of GSH. I think I'm going to have to roll by a used CD place and pick up a bunch of his albums. How have I gone so long without it?

Back at it

The holidays are over and much like everyone else I'm getting settled back into work. It's depressing to think that it's 6 months before another holiday. I think that I'm going to have to plan a vacation between now and then...

NYE was good. Spent it with a bunch of friends out in Lake City slumber party style. The rest of the weekend was fairly low key. Nursed a hang over and then went out to a going away party for MNom. Sunday was spent watching football all day. The Seahawks make me want to cry, even though yesterdays game wasn't nearly as bad as some of the prior slaughterings. Oh well, maybe next year. As for now GO EAGLES!!!...

What do you write in a cover letter to an editor who openly admits to not reading them?...

I need to decide which project I'm going to be working on this year. I'm torn between a few of them. It'll probably end up being Metro since I didn't get as much done as I'd have liked at the end of last year. Part of me feels like starting something completely new though. I dunno, bah...

Read this morning that Radiohead is back in the studio. That's the best news that I've heard thus far this year. Hopefully we'll see something new from them in 2010...

Last year I had 333 blog posts. Up from 55 in 2008. Makes me wonder how many there will be in 2010...

Speaking of 2010. There has been some discussion about how to say it. Is it "twenty ten" or "two thousand ten"? I'm voting for "twenty ten". Less syllables. At the same time, how is this making it's way into the evening news? Say it however you feel more comfortable. It means the same damn thing: Winter Olympics, FIFA World Cup and Census...

I can't wait for the Olympics...
