Literature: A brand of kitty litter for the mature feline

Oh how I love giraffes. They are quite possibly the most perfect animal on the planet. Woodland Park Zoo posted this picture earlier that I think is just grand...

What'd y'all think of that storm last night? If you hadn't already heard/experienced, we had a rare late spring storm roll through Seattle yesterday. High winds, lots of rain, you know, a storm. I was unfortunate enough to get stuck in the down pour on my way home from work. It wasn't all so bad though. It was still pretty warm at that point and the wind wasn't kickin' too much yet. Here's a pic I snagged at the bus stop. I really wish that I'd taken video because that set of clouds was moving so fast it was in and out in about 8 minutes...

A word to the wise, don't go robbing people outside of a ninja school. It's a horrible idea. To be honest I can't think of many ideas that are worse than that. Well maybe trying to rob the school itself...

They've unveiled the new mascots for the 2012 Olympics. They're named Wenlock and Mandeville and were created by the final drops of steel from the Olympic Stadium. I actually really like the story added to it. What I really want to know is how I get a job as one of them for the games. That'd be awesome...

I'm trying to figure out the next installment of "Tusk Talk" if you got some ideas hit me up...

It's comin' no matter what I say

All of you need to watch this. It's absolutely amazing...

I finished up season 2 of the X-files this weekend. Definitely better than the first season. There were a few notable episodes. "Humbug" is most certainly a classic. "Fresh Bones" and "Excelsis Dei" were both great episodes. "End Game" is so far my favorite of the conspiracy episodes. That bounty hunter was damn creepy. I'd also like to point out that I wasn't very pleased with Scully's abduction. Now I understand that the actor was pregnant, however that shit just pissed me off. It isn't the same without her. They better not bull that crap on me again until after Season 5 (I've heard it takes a big downturn at that point). That being said, I've been enjoying Season 3 so far. I had to dive right in since they left 2 on such a cliff hanger...

There's supposed to be a storm coming through this afternoon. 50 mph gusts and lots of rain. Hopefully we lose power here at work and I get to go home early. Very doubtful though...

Went frolfing for the first time yesterday. Great fun. I'm definitely going to have to do that some more. It was ridiculous getting down to White Center though. Took my like 2 hours. It was nice though, I hadn't been to the old hood in a while. It's crazy to see what they've been doing. All the new developments look good except for the paint job. I was happy to see that they didn't just do another cookie cutter project like was there before. It's got a little more depth now, but we'll have to see how it ages...

Too many thoughts

I feel older everyday. I understand that I get older everyday, but I'm not sure at what point I became fully aware of this. At what point did the little things start to build up to the point that they now reveal my aging? Is there some event that occurred or is it that I just have more time to think about such things? I'm starting to think that it may have to do with knowledge. The more you know, the older you feel. I kind of like that...

It's completely acceptable to be different...

Every time that I've tried to get coffee today something has gone wrong. Maybe I'll try again. Maybe I'll quit trying. No. I'll try again. Failure isn't an option...

We're supposed to have thunder storms today. I hope so. There is something about them I've always loved. It might be the electricity in the air. Maybe the raw power put on display for all to see and fear. Actually, its probably the rain...

I need to make it to the SAM. I haven't been to see the new exhibit yet. I'm debating whether or not its a good idea to go with the broken foot. I really want to go though. To go back to an earlier thought: would going to the art museum make me feel older? Or does art not count? Art usually makes me feel younger for some reason, so I don't think it counts...

I'm going into the doctor today. They're supposed to take out the stitches. I'm really hoping that means I can put my whole body in the shower while I bath. It's not the easiest to do with one foot out. I've found it easier to wash myself with a rag on a stick, but it makes me feel like a invalid...

The Flaming Lips are working on a double album. I'm so excited that I have wet myself more times than I can count. Pitchfork has a blurb about it here. The best news was the inspirations, "thinking Beatles White Album, Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti and even some of the longer things that the Clash have done". I can't wait. Damn. I just wet myself again...

Trade Show is this weekend. I'm not really looking forward to it. Its the only weekend that I have to work. I wish I didn't have to...

I'd rather be in the woods. Preferably near the ocean. Somewhere like Forks. I love Forks. When I get old I think that's where you'll find me. Tucked away in a little cove along the coast. Looking out across the angry blue expanse and up into the chaotic crossing of evergreens. At this point I'd even settle for this...

I forgot to mention, I finally got some coffee..

I fought the death and I won!!!

The fever has finally subsided. I woke up at 5am this morning and felt great! So now we can get back to some more serious bloggin'...

I've can't believe the utter indecency of Rush Limbaugh. It's one thing to speak out against the President or other politicians based on their politics but to make such a blatantly despicable attack on a senior member of the senate based on an illness is too far. Shame on Limbaugh, Shame....

It's snowing in Seattle again. Is this just a natural occurrence or is it the beginning of a long line of climate changes that we are unable to stop?...

Are you interested in leaving a message for God? Well now you can! A Dutch artist has set up a mobile phone where you can call a leave a message for God. I wonder if he's planning on calling anyone back...

Snow storms, garbage and body armor

It's been a while so I have a lot to cover. Lets see how much of it I forget...

SEATTLE SNOW STORM!!! That's been the big thing lately. It started during the Ho-down and didn't really let up for a couple weeks. Yesterday is when the big melt began. I couldn't be happier...

During our winter event I didn't really do too much. Worked pretty much everyday, which led to some interesting, or should I just say packed, bus rides. David was a champion and drove me home most of the days...

While holed away in my house we cooked like crazy. Here's some of the foods that were made: lime squares, chex mix (twice), cookies, roast, chicken soup, chili, etc. It was good, we pretty much just spent the whole weekend of the 20th at home baking and trying to stave off cabin fever as best we could...

There has also been a rash of puzzles going on. It started with the creek puzzle. Which led to the boat puzzle. Then the monkey puzzle (damn the monkey). Just when I thought we'd done all the puzzles I have Elizabeth came over last night with a Last Supper puzzle. It's over 3 feet long!!! I may add pictures to this later, but my camera is at home...

The indoor garden is taking shape nicely. I got a bunch of seeds planted, effectively starting phase two. The big light is out now and they're loving it. Well, those that aren't getting burned. I have to look into it a little more. Some of them are thriving, like the jalapenos have double in size, while others aren't doing so well, the Peruvians haven't done anything. In time I'll get it all figured out and we should be able to start the continual harvest around March or April...

Christmas was good. I went out to my Dad's for the eve. It was really pleasant. My sister, brother in law, Joe and I played the game of Life. Joe won because he decided not to go to college. The irony of that game will never get old. We ate chili and tomato soup. It was fabulous. Then my brother and Joe came down and spent the night at my place. Christmas morning my brother made breakfast, which was great, and I put up the indoor garden light with a little help from my friends. That evening I went down to Claudia's with Matt and we ate dinner. She made Cornish Game Hens. So good. Then we just dinked around for a while playing Dangerous Hunts on the wii. All in all a good holiday...

Not much else going on in my life. Now for a couple other things...

Dear Seahawks, As if this year wasn't bad enough for Seattle sports fans, we had to watch you. Step up your game next year...

Larry Craig tourists now is the time. They're beginning to see a slow in bathroom tourism at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport so now is your chance to get out and see where it all went down!....

The garbage is pilling up. It's pretty gross. I just want them to finally take it all away...

Israel is bombing Gaza, again...

And one last thing for all you out there that believe teaching abstinence and not responsiblity in school is the way to go, click here. I personally don't understand why the current administration has taken the course they have. It's like sending our troops in Iraq into heavy fire without body armor because they took a pledge to not get shot...

Okay, time for some more

I'd like to know what the people of Washington did to deserve the awful sports teams (or lack thereof now) that we have. I mean really. The Mariners are the worst team in baseball. The Huskies and the Cougars can't win a game to save their life. The Seahawks are a joke. And the Sonics, well don't get me started on the Sonics. So to whatever powers that be, please tell us what we did wrong and we'll try to correct it. We just want a decent team, even just one...

...We're expecting a storm tomorrow. It's supposed to be big. I hope that it doesn't knock over any trees. Expect the hawthorn and the holly. It could knock those over and I wouldn't be too bummed. Unless the hawthorn took out the bar with it. Then I'd be sad...

...I really hate people who call me and have no idea what they want. I'm current listening to this guy fumble around his shop deciding what he needs to order. Ridiculous...

...There is a small magnet that I keep on the only piece of metal on my entire desk. It is of a Hawaiian woman in a grass skirt with flowers around her neck and in her hair. It makes me happy everytime I see it because it reminds me of the cute little Hawaiian girl who gave it to me, Alexia (I wonder if you read this)...

...Time to start closing up work...
