We could always dress up like our favorite Pokémon and do some live action role playing

Or not...

Beware of the illness. It's out there. It's horrid. You can't eat for days. Can't drink more than an ounce of water at a time. These are the rules. If you find that you have been infected any attempt to override these rules results in violent vomiting. Do not dismiss this warning. I fought it for days, but now I've prevailed...

Props to the Judge Bolton for putting a hold on the more controversial parts of the AZ immigration law. It's just the first step though. This is destine for the Supreme Court...

I started watching Heroes again. I'm up to the end of season 3. I'm not sure I'm going to watch the last season. I didn't realize that the show was cancelled without proper closure. I think that might just drive me crazy. I did like season 3 though....

Moved back into the X-files. Good stuff. I'm still on season 4. I really enjoyed the two part episode where Mulder gets captured by the Russians. The "Musings of a Smoking Man" was pretty lame in my opinion. I understand that they want some mystery around this guy but to suggest he was there for the JFK assassination and MLK jr. is a bit far. I think that they could have come up with a better back story for him. More to do with aliens and less to do with conspiracy in general....

Coca-Cola is going to give 100K to which ever park gets the most votes in it's online thingamajig. Y'all should vote for some local park. I put up for N. Cascades NP...

Here's another story that I've mention before, the W Seattle Totem Pole. I'm happy to see its finally back up where it should be. From the picture it also looks like they did a nice restoration job. I'm going to have to head out there for a first hand inspection soon....

And we'll end today with a lil JFK quote, "If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich."

Magnets: What makes them so magical?

Everyones always talking about magnets. To some people they're like duck tape, to others as mysterious as the meaning of the cosmos. I'm somewhere in between. Here's a few quick things to remember when working with magnets:

If you are trying to battle a magnetic situation you're going to need bigger magnets. It's a simple rule. And it is very rare that you ever meet a situation where this rule doesn't apply. Well, if you're a magnetic physicist you might, but for most people a large magnet will solve your problem.

Brass is not magnetic. Never will be. It is actually the perfect weapon against magnets. If someone is telling you they can manipulate brass with magnets something else is going on there. I'd venture to guess that in actuality they possess some kind of telekinetic powers and are using magnets to cover up their secret.

Magnets can be truly hilarious. Never underestimate their power to make you laugh.

There is so much more that I could say about magnets, however I need to go find a one ton electro-magnet right now. This is going to be fun.

Hold up. Are they BOTH smoking their OWN blunts?!

Props to NESF for yet another killer find. Actually, I'm not sure if it was him or MNom, so props to both. Either way here's the conversation that ensued.

[13:05] Desomniac: is he smoking a blunt?
[13:06] NESF: yeah, i think so
[13:06] Desomniac: hold up
[13:06] Desomniac: are they BOTH smoking THEIR OWN blunts?!?!?
[13:06] NESF: lol. i think so
[13:06] NESF: i can't explain it, but for some reason that's just one of the best things i've seen all week
[13:06] Desomniac: this is amazing

It's time to cut a rug and throw the deuce up in the sky

Y'all should read this. It's pretty much what I was talking about earlier this week...

Last night I was in Vegas again. I should point out that I forgot to remove the nicotine patch, which produces the most lucid dreams I've ever had. I really wanted to take a shower but people kept stealing my towel. I searched everywhere for it. When I finally got it back I found that none of the hotels had showers anymore and instead there was a long line of them all together. Then I had to get quarters for the hot water. No one would change my chips for quarters. Once I finally got everything I needed I got into the shower. Then I was back at home. I never got to clean myself so I went to do that but there wasn't any hot water. I went to check the tank to find it was missing entirely. I was irate. Who had been in my apartment without my knowledge!? Then I woke up to the faint smell of smoke and the sound of sirens. There was a fire on my block...

Gorillaz are going to be touring North America in October!!!! I hope that they make it to the PNW....

Kosovo has been ruled a "legitimate" country. This is actually great news for any region aspiring for independent rule. Hopefully this will one day be used as precedence for Cascadian independence. Hopefully...

What if the Tea Party was black?

There's a great article in Post Partisan today. I recommend that everyone read Tim Wise's original post too. No seriously, read it now. It addresses a number of serious double standards that exist within our country. It also made me kind of sad that it even had to be written, no matter how true it is.

Here's the explaination included with the video:

"A few months ago, Tim Wise wrote a widely circulated article called, "Imagine if the Tea Party Was Black " which challenged America to take a close look at the hypocrisy of the Right Wing. Now, a Pittsburgh rapper is accepting his challenge in true Hip Hop form. Jasiri X has released a video called "What if the Tea Party was Black." The Hip Hop artist says that he got the idea when Paradise,a member of the pro-black rap group X-Clan, forwarded him a copy of Wise's article. "I saw the article and I liked the concept," says the rapper. So Jasiri hit the studio with producer Cynik Lethal while Paradise grabbed his video camera and they went on their mission to defeat the Right Wing propaganda machine."

Sometimes it's hard to come up with a title.

If someone wants to build a Mosque near Ground Zero I say let em! By fighting it we're just exposing the hypocritical positions in our country. To me nothing would show that the true values of America are alive and well as a new Mosque in lower Manhattan. After all it's one of the purest representations of the freedoms of speech, religion and peaceful assembly. We're not talking about a terrorist training facility here, it's a place for the community to come together. Just because you may not be a part of that community doesn't mean we can take that away from them. By clinging to narrow minded views and ideals of hate we're no better than all the other fanatics our there. As for Palin, I can't think of anyone in this country who is doing more to destroy our values while claiming to hold them in the highest regard. At times it's just painful to watch. Other times it's just funny...

Pops posted the pictures he took from the Mt Rainier trip. I'm not sure why but I kinda like this one. I don't look very happy. I think it's because my skin was burning more and more by the second:

I also love this shot of my sister and I. Very regal:

One more scenery pic. This is of the new visitors center and the Tatoosh in the background:

I can't get enough of the new Big Boi album...

I broke one of the most important rules. I didn't eat lunch or dinner on Saturday. Instead I just imbibed my way through the day. That never ends well. I woke up covered in black marker. Jubilee Days was awesome though...

Oh yeah! My tomatoes are looking great. I'll try to remember to take a pic tonight...

OMGWTFBBQ?

My sister will laugh at that title, you might not, but I think it's funny. I'm figuring out places to go on my cross country road trip. I've decided that the Lost World Caverns is a must see. Hopefully I'll catch a glimpse of Bat Boy.

Great find

Props to NESF on this great find. Now I just need to figure out where I can get 3 pigs and whole lot of grease...

Mt Rainier, till we meet again I'll remember you in a purple hue.

I spent the weekend up at Mt Rainier. We camped at Ohanapecosh. Went up to Paradise on Saturday. Stopped by Narrada Falls and Box Canyon. Sunday we went up to Sunrise. The higher elevations were still covered in snow and I got a sunburn that I'm blaming on reflected rays. I didn't take a camera, but got some shots on my dad's, I just need to get them from him. For now here's some pics of Sunrise I got with my phone. The light was strange up there and gave everything this purple tint. I kinda dig it.

This has nothing to do with The Princess Bride

Can't wait to get back on the mountain. Soon. Very Soon...

I love that when I got home last night my apartment wasn't a sauna. The old house was an oven. Hopefully that means that I can sleep easy tonight. The 90 degrees isn't bad, it's the 80 degree nights that's killer...

Fucked up scene. I forgot to put on my patch today. Urge to kill was rising. Then I find that in my cargo pocket there was a pack of cigarettes. Of all the days to find a full pack of cigarettes. I smoked one and then gave the rest of the pack away. I think I'm going to have to keep a couple patches at work for these situations in the future...

I'm going to get a picture of corn getting covered in honey this weekend. It's for the new blog banner I'm working on. I couldn't be happier...

Damn I really want a slurpee. First stop after work 7-11...

More Nas

is a very good thing. Check out this video of One Love.

Skeet Skeet Skeet II

No cigarettes and no alcohol make me something something

Big Boi and a couple of white dudes

This is a strange combo. Either way it's a decent track. Nothing that blows me away, but that's cool. I'm sure I'll still pick up his new album next week.

PS I also love all the ass shots.

Skeet Skeet Skeet

Oh Apple. So it isn't that your new phone is a piece of shit, its more that you've been lying to your customers for all there years by falsifying signal strength. That's just great. A word to the wise: Buy Android. I've been VERY satisfied with my phone. Yeah there aren't as many apps (yet) but their catching up. Here's a graph, notice the falling the purple falling and the green rising? Yeah. It's also nice to be able to choose from a wide variety of phones. I'm also a huge fan of the fact that if I ever lose my phone I won't lose all my contacts because it's tied directly to my google account, the very same account I use to operate this blog. If you haven't noticed, I might be the biggest Google booster there is...

WORLD CUP!!! YAAAAAY!!!! I've got to throw my support behind Ghana if for no other reason that we can say we were beaten by the best. However I think there is a very real possibility that by the end of the weekend we'll be left with only South American teams. That being said I'm going to pick Ghana, Brazil, Spain and Argentina. We'll see if I'm right...

I love the cover for the new Kanye West single. Makes me wonder what the new album is going to be like....

I miss football season. Thank the maker it's only a couple months away...

Apparently not getting laid is just a Seattle thing. I need to find me one of these girls that digs the outdoors. I'm uber down with that...

Major shout out to everyone working on I-1068. It's a huge bummer that it won't make it to the ballot, but don't give up. There's always next year...

It's 56 degrees right now. Kinda lame. However, right on cue, things are supposed to be getting better starting Monday. We'll have to wait and see...

This is pretty awesome...

This quote ran across my Twitter feed from @loudersofter. I dig it. "Don't HATE the media....BECOME the media."...
