Holidays, Crunch Time and a Vision of Things to Come?

Holidays are never long enough. Just as I was getting comfortable in my escape I have to come back. I'd love nothing more than to be back on Case Inlet drinking a bloody mary, watching a storm come barreling in, while I steam up some fresh clams for a nice pasta medley. And the fire, oh the fire. With flames rising five feet into the air causing every raindrop to evaporate as soon as it touches down. I'll be back there soon enough...

Now that I'm back in Seattle it's crunch time. I have a lot of things to get worked out before the end of the month. Packing and cleaning and packing and cleaning and vomiting uncontrolably because the whole process makes me sick. I'm starting to think that I may need to have a yard sale to help get rid of stuff. Either that or I'll just become one of those obsessive compulsive craigslister's who spends every waking moment posting ads. Hopefully I'll be able to downsize my life though and once it's all said and done I'll be the happiest boy in all the land. Hopefully...

I don't think that I shared with you all the dream that I had last week. It all began in Bothel, well it might of been Mill Creek but somewhere over there. I don't remember what I was doing there but it was nothing of great importance. Suddenly there was a flash and everything went white.
As my vision returned I came to notice that my surroundings had changed. There were huddles of people around me all looking around in confusion. There were two buildings that were probably once homes, but had be left to rot long ago. We were all in the middle of what appeared to be a large forest. There was no food or water and everyone was starting to panic.
A good friend of mine, PMR, was there and he rallied a couple of other guys to go off in search of food with him. I was with the remaining people and hysteria was very much a reality. The few children there were huddled beneath a group of crying women, none of them the parents. A group of men were discussing how best to defend our position from whatever inhabited the surrounding foliage. No one was looking for water.
I stepped up and attempted to organize an effort to find water. After reassuring everyone that we were going to be fine I separated them all into small groups to search the immediate area in hopes of finding a river or lake.
As they departed I kept two of the groups behind to help set up a camp of sorts. We were able to find two large econoline vans that had the keys in the ignition. After moving them to a clearing on the south side of the houses we then decided to investigate inside.
I was with a woman who started asking me a lot of questions. Finally I couldn't take anymore and asked her why she thought that I knew more than any one else. She paused for a long time and then told me that before she ended up here she was in southern California and that a bright flash occurred and suddenly she was there with the rest of us. I knew that I had moved through time/space but for some reason I never thought that everyone else had as well. She forced me to swear that I wouldn't tell anyone where she was from, which I did, but was never sure as to why.
Around this time the first group of people came back from searching for water. They had found a small spring about 400 yards away and one of the men, I assume he was an engineer, began drafting a plan for an aqueduct. They were also able to acquire a variety of tools they found in the woods, a couple of hatchets, a sledge hammer, etc., and began getting to work on building the water system and starting a fire. This was the first time that I really looked around at what was around us.
I could see a body of water to the west and two large hills, one north and one south. On the southern hill there was a building and upon further study I determined it was the Pacific Medical Center. Mirrored on the opposite hill was another building that I then deduced to be Harbor View Hospital. We were in Seattle! but there were no other signs of civilization. No sky scrappers. No roads. Nothing but forest.
I was in a trance trying to process it all when an old friend from high school showed up and told me that she had to get to her studio on Lucile if she was going to be able to help us. I asked where on Lucile and she simply replied, "there's only one place on Lucile. None of this is like you remember it." I gave her keys to one of the vans and sent her off with a couple of men armed with a hatchet.
PMR returned from his expedition dragging behind him a good sized black bear while the men who accompanied him had another tied up on a stick they had resting on their shoulders. Many of the people immediately became horrified that we would eat bear. The screams of horror echoed between the hills. In order to subdue the situation I had the men but the bears into the other van. I then went out to address the concern about eating bear.
On my way I started to tell PMR about the women transported from So Cal, but when I was just about to tell him, she spontaneously appeared before me and said, "I really hope you weren't about to tell him anything about me, for your sake." I quickly back tracked and explained I was trying to get an idea of where he came from and that it had nothing to do with her.
I reached the crowd to find half of the people were more than willing to consume the ursine meat. However everyone else was very much against it and demanded an alternative. I suggested that they break into groups and start scavenging the area. One group to go up the hills looking for berries and other fruits. One group to go towards the water in hopes of fishing or finding shellfish along the shore. As they disembarked I began to work on the bears.
We started by removing the seats from the van. This was the most vivid memory I have. The seats were four deep in the van and held in place by elaborate clamps that required two people in order to unlatch them. It took us a very long time to remove all the seats and place them in a semi circle behind the van.
I then moved the bears into the middle of the van and position myself above the larger of the two. A man handed me a knife and as I was about to slice into the flesh behind the neck in order to begin skinning the animal I awoke. I had no idea where I was. I laid in my bed for 5 minutes before I realized that I was back at home. I spend the rest of the day wish I was back in the dream...

I feel like Santiago Nasar today

I had a wonderful dream about wandering through a forest. There were large sequoias towering above me in every direction. The ground was sparsely covered with small shrubs and other various foliage. A flock of birds flew from tree to tree for no apparent reason other than to observe my movements. There was no one around and I just continued to wander. I awoke to the sound of birds...

The birds were calling from outside my window as the morning sun finally roused my eyelids from sleep. My room was in as much disarray as when I feel asleep. I don't know why I hope it will be different when I wake up, but I always do...

The only pair of pants that I could find were white. I don't usually wear anything white, so I'm not so sure why I own white pants, but I do. They seem to draw attention to me in a way that I'm uncomfortable with, but I never remember that until after leaving my house...

I wasn't going to see the bishop so to speak, but in some respects I was...

When I left my house it was raining in a way that could be remembered as not raining. The soft drizzle of Seattle that I've come to love. As I stepped onto the sidewalk I noticed that there weren't any signs of birds. No songs or squawks. No flutter of movement. It's as if they were never there...

When I reached the bus stop at Rainier and Orcas I expected that the Vicario brothers would be waiting for me. Instead there was no one. And I boarded my morning bus alone for the first time I can remember...

Let's talk worms!

I can barely see right now. I just rubbed my eye and I think there was some jalapeno juices on my finger. It's painful. My vision is blurring. In some ways it seems as though the world around me is now displaying future scenes, but they're very hard to make out...

I haven't been bowling in a while now. I think that I should go soon. I find it relaxing. Maybe I'll go after work and just watch the pins re-rack themselves over a plate of lack luster nachos. I probably won't...

Nathan and I went to play Buck Hunter last night. We fought through the rain to get down to Hooverville, only to find that it was recently burnt out by a fire. You could still smell the burn wood in the wet air. Needless to say we were disappointed. We wandered through Sodo to Pioneer Square checking every bar we could think of for Buck Hunter with no luck. We ended up at Collin's which wasn't too bad at all, but I still wish we'd gotten to play Buck Hunter...

Chili Cook Off is coming up. I'm hoping to get out the information soon. I can tell you that the date is going to be April 18th. There will also most likely be admission fees this year in order to help offset the overall cost of the event and hopefully get some money together for the Festival. It's going to be huge this year...

I've been having a reoccurring dream of sorts. Reoccurring in the sense that it always happens in the same place. It's never a bad dream. I live on a farm with a large library in the center of an octagonal outer wall that is thick enough as to house all the necessary provisions to sustain life. I wish I was there now...

I guess this isn't about worms at all...

A chilling vision of things to come.

Space avengers took over the comptroller and now we've got molds growing in crevasses that people didn't think could sustain life. There is a cool wind floating in the air, which many people have brushed aside as the icy hand of winter, but I assure you it's much more. The ice demons are amassing in the depths of the Pacific and we're rapidly approaching the breaking point. So in an effort to call for unity I urge everyone out there in the blogosphere to destroy your televisions, microwave your cellphones, incinerate your microwaves, and take to the hills now. The water is rising and we don't have much to look forward to...

Haunting dreams...

So I had some extremely disturbing dreams last night. I don't remember much of what happened except the parts when someone died. I guess I should also point out that I can't say for sure if these were all different dreams or one in the same. But I woke up after each person died...

The first took place in a warehouse. I was working with a large wall of wooden sticks, each probably 30 feet tall. I was using a saw blade at the bottom of the pile to cut each piece of wood into small splinters. At this point my boss showed up and told me that I was doing it all wrong. She then brought in 4 people I've never seen before, all men. The largest of these men brought with him a bushwhacker, a large radial saw blade on the end of machine like a weed whacker. This bushwhacker was unusually large. He looked at me and fired up the machine. He then took one large swing and cut all of the sticks in half, but then didn't stop his motion. The blade came full circle, nearly hitting his comrades, and heading straight for me. I was incapable of moving as the saw blade cut through my right temple. I could almost feel it tearing the tender tissues of my brain. Blood began spraying from my wound. I screamed for help but no one could hear me over the sound of the bushwhacker. I put my hand to the wound, hoping to slow the bleeding. Blood was flowing everywhere. For a moment I was more concerned about drowning in it then from the fatal blow to my head. Finally someone noticed that I was dying and began to rush to my aide from about 50 yards away. This was the last thing I saw before my vision went white. And I woke up...

The second part begins at a busy intersection. Everything I remember suggests that I was in LA, or a city exactly like it in a parallel world. My friend Joe and I had just finished dinner with a group of people and had decided to go to the intersection and take some photos. There was definitely a paparazzi element to it. I had the camera and he had all the lens, which we seemed to change with every shot. Then we saw a celebrity, I'm not sure who or if they are even real, and got extremely excited. This man moved faster than everyone else and Joe decided our only chance at the picture was with the biggest lens we had, which was about 12 inches in diameter. He struggled to get it out of the bag, which was only half the size, and once getting it out we couldn't figure out how it attached to the camera base. Out of nowhere a man appeared and assaulted our potential model. He then assaulted another man. Then a woman. He attacked everyone in the area, before noticing the two of us. He came running in our direction. I handed Joe the giant lens in hopes that he could use it in his defense. I moved in for a preemptive attack but without any warning the man pulled a large samurai sword out and skewered Joe where he stood. Immediately Joe began vomiting blood. His stomach and other organs were exposed. The attacker then began to carve his body. I was completely horrified. I remember the large pool of blood spilling over into a river that cascaded down to a nearby storm drain. And I woke up...

The final dream took place in a movie theater. My brother and I were seeing a movie. It seemed that I knew almost everyone in the theater. There were coworkers, both current and previous, old friends from school, relatives. Before we got into the actual theater we were waiting in line and the man in front of us was being beyond disrespectful to his female companion. I don't remember what was said but it made both of us uneasy. As we made our way into the theater. There was a security guard outside the entrance. We entered and noticed where this man sat. My brother wanted to sit near him to make sure he didn't get out of line. A coworker of mine was sitting behind him so I asked if I could switch him seats. The angry man took notice of this and then started a confrontation. Everything started happening very fast. The man left with his girlfriend. We then went to follow them. When we got back into the foyer the security guard was the only one left. He told us that they'd left. But they would be back just after him, and he left. Many things happened here, none of which I remember. The only thing that I remember happened just before the security guard returned. My brother looked over at me and said, "Whatever happens remember that this is my fight. Don't try to help me. Even if it looks like I'm going to lose." The security guard then came back and said, "I hope you're ready for this." Then the man entered the foyer. But it was no longer the man I remembered from earlier. He was now over 15 feet tall and loomed over all of us. He was breathing heavily and seemed to be doing some kind of pre-battle ritual. My brother ran up quickly and jumped on both of his feet simultaneously causing the giant to let out a chilling shriek. The giant then looked down at my brother and grabbed both of his arms. With one single movement he removed my brothers arms from their sockets. This is when the blood started flowing again, like a fountain. The giant laughed and the room shook with the booming sound. He then looked down at me and smiled, before raising a single massive leg and crushing my brother into a pile of guts and gore. And I woke up...

Now I don't know what any of this means. It has had me greatly disturbed all day. I've read some stuff that suggested that death in dream often represents a change. I just hope that it's a good change...
