Politics and desires

I really wish I had a cheesesteak right now...

Sen. Dodd isn't going to run for re-election. Good thing too. He wouldn't have won...

They aren't going to televise the debate on health care. This is in really bad form. I understand that President Obama wants this to happen as quickly as possible, but it also needs to be done in a way that gives American citizens a chance to see the government in action and understand everything that is going on. This is landmark legislation and to do it in secrecy is going to sour public opinion for reform, not just of health care but other sectors (financial, climate, etc)...

It hasn't even been a full week back since the holidays and I feel like I need a vacation...

CONFERM RECIET

I've been having stomach pains today. I'm not sure if it's because I ate something that doesn't like me or what. It makes me feel like Winston Smith....

Work is very busy and people are idiots...

"While We Wait For The Others" didn't get the top spot in Pitchforks 100 Best Tracks 2009 list. It wasn't even in the top ten. I think this is a total fail on their part. My Girls is a great cut and I don't disagree with it's placement on the top. I just think they overlooked Grizzly Bear...

In my dream last night I was going to Highline Community College. The school had been replaced with a strip mall and movie theater. I was there with AK, my dad and my stepmom. We were going to watch a movie, but I had to be somewhere. I couldn't understand why I was there when I had some place else to be. Then I was in Federal Way climbing up a steep hill covered in rocks and foliage. When I reached the top there was a bus waiting for me. I got on the bus and it took me back to the strip mall. I tried to tell the driver to stop, but he didn't...

If you're thinking about prowlin' around Kelso, think again...

They convicted Naveed Haq finally. I hope that this marks some sense of closure for the families of the victims. The sad part is that it reminds me when these things didn't seem to be a regular occurrence...

"Under the spreading chestnut tree
I sold you and you sold me"...

There is only one thing that I really want this year...

Time to get away

I'm having a very depressing and frustrating day. Its like there is a whirlwind of chaos around me right now. Between moving, social interaction and having found out that work is about to go to hell real quick I'm very done with the whole scene that is life. I need to get away, far away. I'm still pining for the ocean. I really need to just break down and buy a little car for occasions just like this...

Resignations of wilderness

I gave up. I don't know why planning a simple evening is so difficult. The strange thing is that as soon as I gave up trying to plan something, I had plans immediately. Buck Hunter. I don't know what it is that draws us together. Whenever I'm stressed out, whenever I'm bored, whenever I'm frustrated, when I'm dead - I'll want to play Buck Hunter. It makes me think that I should move to Montana and live in a small town, maybe Libby. Where I'd be tucked between the mountains and the rivers. Everyone at the local pub would know me by name and I would know all of them. My wardrobe would consist solely of denim and flannel. A variety of bows and lethal arrows would be seen hanging from the walls, beneath heads long devoid of life. I'd even have a fishing pole or two. Makes me wonder if it would be an easier life than I have now. I kind of doubt it. But I'm sure it would be good for my spirit, until I remembered the ocean...

I'd rather not have the drugs

I really hate being crippled right now. I want nothing more than to go to the ocean and with the upcoming holiday I have the opportunity to do that or go camping or doing a wide array of things outside of my urban confines. Unfortunately I can't. Everyone thinks that being injured is great. "Oh you get all kinds of fun drugs though!" I for one never really understood the "fun" in pain medication. I'd rather be healthy and out having fun than sitting at home doped out of my mind. This is just really depressing...

Does David Lynch watch PBS shows of goats eating bacon in the ocean?

David Lynch is the man. I love his movies and his general outlook on life. I recently stumbled upon a project that he's got going on David Lynch Foundation Television. He's got a bunch of interviews and other stuff up there. I'm also looking forward to the upcoming release of "Dark Night of the Soul" a collaboration project that he's doing with Dangermouse and Sparklehorse. Writing this makes me want to go home and watch Lost Highway again, followed by Mulholland Drive...

I really want to go to this. What could be better than poundin' beers and watching goats race?...

Seattle is quickly becoming bacon capital of the world. I think it's great. Bacon salt, baconaisse, bacon lube (yes, lube). It does make me question though how bacon goes together with coffee...

PBS is great. I think I've mentioned before that I'm becoming addicted. But for someone without cable it's the best that there is (and possibly for those with cable too). So far this week I've watch Nova: Cracking the Maya Code and a Frontline special on sex trafficking. Nova was awesome. Frontline was heartbreaking but interesting...

I'm still pining for the ocean. Maybe when my foot heals I'll make it there. I hope that I do...

I have no idea what to blog about...

So I'm sitting here trying to figure out what to blog about today, and I'm not having much luck. Seems like nothing is really happening on this dreary day in January. The sky is toned with suicide grays and everyone seems to be under the strange spell that is Monday. I guess I can't really complain about the weather. There isn't a foot of snow outside or a deluge of water bearing down on us (at the moment) and besides it's just really cliche.

I guess I'll tell you a little more about this project that I'm working on. It's a sort of epic poem, in the sense that it's long and a poem. It's all about the 7, but also not about the 7 at all, hence my obsession with the number 7. What I'm doing is taking 7 different concepts from 7 different religious ideals and forming a poem of 343 lines. Each stanza addresses one of the 7 concepts, however each stanza could be seen as an individual piece when read alone. Here's a little excerpt, it's unfinished as you may assume:

Jesus is sitting four rows up,

shaking his head, as a man, with a paper bagged 40,

slurs his words of the Lord

to anyone willing to listen.

Everyone around holds on to each word,

except for Jesus, who reads a sign out the window,

"I have a dream today."

It's a pretty interesting project so far. Most of the scenes are directly taken from my experiences while riding the 7 and then adjusted to be more as I see them, adding a little of my own interpretation. There are so many of them to choose from the whole thing is a little overwhelming, but I'm pleased with my progress so far. If nothing else I'm hoping that this will help break my writers block on another project. We'll see.

I really want to see the ocean soon. I hope it happens.
