I didn't drink this weekend. Probably won't next. Might not drink till Easter, kind of a lent thing. Might not drink ever again. Who knows. Bars are strange when you're not drinking. Especially closing the Knarr sober. Spilled drinks, slurred words, open drugs deals. It was actually one of the most interesting things I've seen in a long time...

Started a bunch of seedlings yesterday. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do with them, but I figured that worse case scenario I give them away. I still want to find some elderly individual who doesn't want to keep up their yard and would let me have a garden there in exchange for maintenance services. For some reason I doubt it's going to happen...

I have a serious problem. I'm addicted to the Olympics. It happened two years ago with Beijing, now it's Vancouver. I haven't watched anything not relating the Olympics since they started and I've been average about 3.5 hours of television a day. It's too much, but I can't stop. Luckily it's only another week and then I can get back to my regular routine. Scary part is that I don't remember what my regular routine is...

Finally got my mail from the post office. I hate the post office. They had me trekkin' all over Ballard. I don't understand why they leave me a note to pick up my mail at the post office when in actuality my mail is at the post office ANNEX. Wtf?...

I can't get enough of GSH. I think I'm going to have to roll by a used CD place and pick up a bunch of his albums. How have I gone so long without it?

It's only two days till Christmas. Everyone seems frantic. The bus ride home took 20 minutes longer than usual because the coach was packed with people. I don't know where they all came from. I assume it's from people sticking around and shopping then catching "the later bus", which is the one I always take. I can't hate too much because I'm not done shopping yet. This is a problem. I have two people left to shop for. My sister is going to be a super star and see if she can snag one of the gifts for me after work (she's way closer to the store than I am) and while she's doing that I'm going to try to find something good for her. Everything that I really want to get her isn't economically viable. We'll see how I do...

I've been watching more movies at work. It takes about twice as much time because I have to constantly pause it and help customers, but it's not so bad. I watched the Zeitgeist movie yesterday. I can't say that I believe it all but it was interesting none the less. I wasn't such a big fan of the 911 part. I'm sure that there was foul play involved, but it just makes me really sick to my stomach. But it resulted in my watching a bunch more conspiracy nonsense about other things. Mostly 2012 stuff. So then when I got home last night I watched this great documentary on PBS about the early church and how it was formed in the early years of Christianity. Good stuff...

You might have noticed that I post fewer links to news stories. I don't read the news as much anymore. It's unbelievably depressing, especially local news. I was on my way to the crossword at seattletimes.com and the front headline caught my eye. Two more police officers had been shot. Now correct me if I'm wrong but that now 5 dead and 3 injured that I can remember in the last 2 months!!! Then I go a little further and catch up on the health care issue (which I've been following more closely) to find that Republicans are now doing everything they can to waste time and delay a vote. Now I'm all for it if you have a better idea for the problems, however wasting time isn't a solution. It just goes to solidify my opinion that the GOP wants nothing more than to perpetuate the status quo of abusing the lower and middle class so that they can retain their wealth and hence their control. If Santa brings me one thing this year I hope its rain...

Late night post

I've been working on an old project again lately. It's now my new project. I can't remember if I've blogged about it yet. I'm hoping it turns out to be a novel. Last time I tried to write a novel it came out somewhere in a grey area of literature I didn't know existed and very well may not. It had the basic elements but wasn't told in the way you'd expect a novel. However this time I've decided to be a little more coherent in my attempt. The working title is "Buried West". I'm not sure that will stick, but I have to call it something for now. I'm really hoping to get a good amount of work done on it over my upcoming week off from work. I guess if I really get down to it I might end up participating in nanowrimo. I'm not going to hold myself to that though...

Watched a pretty decent documentary on PBS's P.O.V. tonight, "The Way We Get By". It was about three senior citizens who great troops coming back from overseas. Seemed fitting being it's Veteran's day. Mad props goes out to all the veterans. I'd recommend it...

A Dream Within A Dream

I saw "Where the Wild Things Are" last night. Good flick. It'd been a long time (at least 18 months) since I'd been to the cinema. It was well worth it. I don't think that the enormity of the Wild Things will come across as well on the small screen...

The horse fucker is at it again. I think that we need to come up with a serious solution for this guy. It's not painfully apparent that he's not going to stop. I think some sort of mental institution is in order. Mans not right in the head if he's wanting it from a horse. Yuck...

The city is claiming that they're going to have a better snow response this year. You all might remember what happened last year, it was horrid. I like that they're going to be more prepared but I'm hoping we just don't get any snow. Heard the other day it's already snowed in a good chunk of the country and it's not even a month into FALL. Don't worry though, our climate isn't changing. We're just being punished...

I'd gettin' might impatient waiting on a new Outkast album. I might have to go down to Atlanta and ruffle some feathers. I'm not sure it would do any good, but it might calm me down for a few weeks. Doubtful though. It'd probably just further incite my growing rage...

I just learned that I'm not a part of Generation Y, now I'm in the Millennial Generation. I guess it makes sense. I never really cared to be labeled a Y. However this comes from an article that I was reading about the emergence of Millennial voters and what will be their lasting impact on American politics. Pretty interesting stuff...

I've forgotten to mention to you all that we (*upon reading this again I'm not sure why I said "we" and not "I" but instead of editing it have chosen to just add this little bit of filler*) have a new address. I finally was able to wash my foot. The skin peeled off in large chunks that I considered keeping in order to make a life sized mold of my foot. Then I decided that was nasty...

I'm going to see Wolverine tonight. I loved the X-men movies, so I'm hoping this is just as good. I haven't been to a movie theater in a long time. I think that the last thing I saw was the Simpson's movie. Hopefully nothing has changed too drastically...

I really need to do more writing. I have this horrible habit of starting a project, getting really excited about it, and then letting it just fizzle out. I don't know why. I guess that I need to work more on my follow through. So since I never finish anything I'll throw out another excerpt. This is from the project that I was doing about the 7:

A young mother sits facing center
A book of Vietnamese characters lays open on her lap
As she tries to teach her child what they all mean.
“You need to teach them English!”
An elderly woman, who could be her aunt, yells
“They won’t go nowhere here without English!”
The child replies, “Đó là vô nghia”

I hope that I got my Vietnamese translation right. But if I didn't would you know the difference? I might post something else for you later. I ran across this story that I wrote like 10 years ago. Could be fun...
